Octiv has released a new app for iTunes users, Volume Logic. Volume Logic, currently in beta testing, is an iTunes plug-in designed to expand the standard iTunes volume control. The app features real-time audio remastering and ships with a 5 band processor. According to Octiv:
Octiv, the audio and telephony innovator, has just released the first audio plug-in ever available for Apples iTunes player.
The Volume Logic plug-in runs on Mac OS X and provides real-time digital remastering for improved quality of sound.
Octivs Volume Logic plug-in improves the quality of the listening experience by digitally remastering audio in real-time with the same technology used by the pros in the music and broadcast business.
Anything playing in iTunes, including MP3s, AACs, Internet radio, or CDs, will be digitally remastered for consistent volume level and spectral balance. Low levels are intelligently raised and loud signals are kept under control, all in real-time.
The Volume Logic plug-in incorporates a state-of-the-art 5-band dynamics processor that examines and adjusts the audio thousands of times a second. Files are not scanned or modified. All the audio processing takes place in real-time while the audio is sent to your speakers or headphones.
You can find more information about the Volume Logic beta release at the Octiv Web site. Volume Logic ids currently available as freeware.
