Not crazy about the white-colored Mac mini? ColorWare Inc. might have the answer you're looking for, with word that will soon offer Apple's low-cost PC in a variety of colors.
The Winona, Minn.-based company will begin offering next week a service to modify the color of a customers existing Mac mini for US$99, or brand new Mac mini systems directly from ColorWare for an additional $99 over its retail price.
"We'll be offering all 20 colors that we presently have for the iMac," Lars Rasmussen, Director of Sales & Marketing for ColorWare, told The Mac Observer. Colors, which can be seen on the company's Web page for its flat-panel iMacs, range from Midnight Blue to Envy Green and Carbon Black (see photos below).
Mr. Rasmussen also confirmed it will offer matching colored keyboards and mice from either Apple or Logitech, but that pricing has yet to be set on those accessories.
The service on existing systems from customers takes between 8 and 10 business days, Mr. Rasmussen said.
ColorWare has altered the color palette of Macs since 2000 and is best known for the paint jobs they do on other Apple products such as the iMac, iPod, iBook and Powerbook. The company also performs color changes on Xbox, PS2, Game Cube and other Windows-based PCs and laptops.
ColorWare is growing in excess of 48% a year, Mr. Rasmussen said, and is presently expanding into custom colored business computers, home entertainment systems, and the office interior design field.
