Aspyr Media on Tuesday announced that Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 is now shipping. The Electronic Arts golf game was developed for the Mac by the publisher's internal Aspyr Studios team. This latest version of the Tiger Woods PGA Tour game lets players create their own golfer, tweaking every aspect of his appearance with the Game Face feature, and then send him on the amateur or professional circuit.
The game also offers more PGA Tour players than the last edition, with opportunities to play against not only Tiger himself but also Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Ben Hogan and other legends. Players can also take on those golfers' personas and steps into their shoes for 18 holes.
The new Tiger Proofing course modification feature lets players change every aspect of a course's dynamics, from lengthening the tees to tightening or widening the fairways to even deciding how often the greens are maintained. Eventually players can assemble their own Dream 18 course, which will draw professional golfers to play on it, if it proves to be well-made. The game comes with eight new courses, including two fantasy courses set in Japan and Australia.
Pricing is US$39.99. System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3.8, a G4 or G5 1.2GHz processor (G5 iMac or Power Mac G5 recommended), 256MB RAM (512MB recommended), 2.5GB free hard drive space, 32MB video RAM (64MB recommended) and a DVD drive. Players can take on live opponents on a LAN or over the Internet via the Mac-only online service GameRanger. Internet play requires a broadband connection.
