Mac-Recorded Rap Band Releases MP3
With all the MP3 technology making the rounds in recent weeks, we thought we would pass on a message from rap band Commodore 64 who have released an MP3 created entirely with Mac-related tools. According to Commodore 64:

Those wily New York City geekstie boys, Commodore 64, have released the first ever entirely Macintosh-produced rap single, "Horton Hears A Ho". It's is available for MP3 download on their entirely Macintosh-produced website, http://www.commodore-64.com/. The song was recorded, sampled with QuickTime 4, edited and mixed with ProTools, remixed, and encoded with MPecker all on a Wall Street PowerBook G3/292. The only microphone used was an Apple PlainTalk microphone!

The band's site has a QuickTime movie embedded on the home page which was constructed with Adobe GoLive 4.

The Mac Observer Spin: We have not listened to the band, but its cool to see Mac tools play such a prominent role in the creation of a song! Also, it shouldn't need to be said, but our mentioning the band should not be taken as an endorsement for the term "Ho." If that term offends you, please don't visit the site or listen to the song. This story is about a band using Macs to create music, not about a lifestyle.
