Usually you have a pretty good idea where the file or folder you are currently using lives on your hard drive. If you used the Mac OS X Find command or Spotlight to open an item, however, you may not be sure where it actually is. Apple thought ahead on that one and included a quick way to view the path to any file or folder.

Document and folder windows all show a name and icon in their title bar. When you Command-click on either the icon or the title bar name, a menu pops up showing the path to the currently selected file or folder. You can also jump to any folder in the path simply by selecting it from the list.

Command-click on window titles to see their directory path.

This trick works in most versions of the Mac operating system, even pre-Mac OS X versions.
