The wait for the updated Apple TV is almost over. Apple CEO Tim Cook said the new version of the set top streaming TV box will be available for pre-order next week and will ship before the end of the month.
The redesigned Apple TV is coming this month
Mr. Cook made the announcement at WSJD Live on Monday, which means Apple is keeping it's promise of an October launch. The updated Apple TV model was shown off in September along with the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil.
The new Apple TV comes with a new interface, support for third-party apps with a slant towards casual gaming, Apple Music support, Siri voice control, and a redesigned remote control. The 32 GB model costs US$149, and the 64 GB model is priced at $199.
There was a time when Apple referred to Apple TV as a hobby, but now Mr. Cook calls it the "foundation of the future of TV."
You can pre-order the new Apple TV on Monday, October 26 and it will be available on Friday, October 30.
