Shipping times for new Apple Watch orders are now reaching out to July for the 42mm Apple Watch and Apple Watch Sport. Apple has been working to get pre-orders from April 10 out to customers, but so far hasn't been able to catch up enough to see quicker ship dates for new orders.
New 42mm Apple Watch orders slip to July
Apple hasn't offered up a specific reason for the extended delays, although a recent report suggests it's due to a single Taptic Engine supplier failing to produce usable parts. That failure led to Apple relying on a single manufacturer for the vibrating motor, and ultimately into the shipping delays we're seeing now.
Pre-orders started on April 10 and it took only minutes before buyers were seeing multi-week shipping delays. After about 30 minutes, order ship dates for some models were in June.
Many pre-orders are arriving earlier than Apple originally planned, so it's possible new orders with July ship windows could show up sooner. Considering the ship times we're seeing right now, however, don't expect orders you place today to show up next week.
