Rumors that Apple will be hosting a media event late in January first surfaced on Monday, and now there’s word that the Mac, iPhone and iPad maker will use the event to highlight ebook publishing and its own iBooks app.
Apple media event may focus on ebooks
Early reports claimed the media event would be either iAd-related or publishing-related, and now TechCrunch is saying its sources are confirming the publishing angle.
Unnamed sources said Apple will use the event to show off new improvements to the iBooks ebook reader app, and that the company is targeting the publishing industry instead of consumers with its message.
There isn’t any word yet on exactly when this rumored event will take place other than late in January. Apple has not commented on the report.
