Jeff Williams
Jeff Williams, senior vice president of operations at Apple, will be speaking at Code Conference 2015, the annual conference put on by Walt Mossberg, Kara Swisher, and Re/code. The event takes place from May 26 to 28 in Rancho Palos Verdes, California—this year's event features executives from GM, BuzzFeed, Pivotal, Xiami, Sprint, and Reddit.
Code Conference, or <code> as it is also known, is the spiritual successor to D, which is owned by The Wall Street Journal. D still exists, but Mr. Mossberg and Ms. Swisher were the powers behind that event, and <code> picked up in 2014 where D left off.
Mr. Williams is Apple CEO Tim Cook's operations lieutenant. One reason he will be speaking at <code> is because he also headed development of the Apple Watch, Apple's first new product category since 2010's iPad. Re/code's announcement also noted that he is pushing development of ResearchKit and other health initiatives within Apple.
Historically, Apple CEOs like Tim Cook and Steve Jobs have been the executives to speak at events like this. Under Tim Cook's reign, however, Apple is letting other top executives step forward, including Mr. Williams.
