As expected, Apple's next iPhone-focused event will take place Wednesday, September 9th, at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco. Apple issued press invitations to the event this morning featuring the intriguing tag line "Hey Siri, give us a hint."
Apple is expected to use the event to unveil the details of this year's iPhone refresh, with "S-level" updates to the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus bringing features like Force Touch, a faster A9 processor, improved camera capabilities, and a rumored change to 7000 Series aluminum -- the same used in the Apple Watch -- for the device's body, which should help address the the flexibility issues behind the somewhat exaggerated "bendgate" claims that surrounded the phones at launch last year.
The long-rumored update to the Apple TV, and the anticipated new online service that will accompany it, could also make an appearance after missing the deadline for inclusion at the WWDC keynote in June. Other expected announcements include updates on the release timing and final details of iOS 9, more information on the new features in watchOS 2, and, possibly, a final release date for OS X El Capitan.
Encouraged by the invitation's tag line, "Hey Siri, give us a hint," users have asked Siri to do just that, and it appears that Apple was prepared. Asking Siri for "a hint" produces one of a number of humorous responses, with many noting that the user will have to wait until September 9th to find out. A collection of screenshots of some of these exchanges, via MacRumors, is below.
The event will kick off Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at the usual time: 10:00 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time (1:00 p.m. Eastern / 5:00 p.m. GMT). TMO will of course provide complete coverage with live updates during Apple's announcement and post-event analysis.
