German software developer Synium announced the release of its MacFamilyTree 5.5 public beta on Tuesday. The application adds a History Database for the user to browse hundreds of predefined historical entries or add world and personal history events as well as a completely rewritten database engine to deliver faster response times, even with huge family trees. Other new bells and whistles include a fully redesigned Search, additional statistical Charts, a customizable Auto-Sav and the following fixes and changes:
- Additional Charts available for Statistics View.
- Improved GEDCOM-Importer.
- Improved editing.
- Bug fixes and improvements.
MacFamilyTree 5 requires a Mac with Mac OS X 10.4.11 or later to install and run as well as an ATI Radeon 7500 or Intel GMA 950 or NVidia GeForce 4 MX graphics chipset or better. The application retails for $49 while upgrades are available for $25.
