Ubisoft on Monday released Assassin’s Creed II: Multiplayer at the App Store, making the game available for free for 48 hours before settling at US$2.99 pricing. The game pits four players against each other over a Wi-Fi connection, with the goal of blending in with non-player characters and using stealth to assassinate opponents.
Three environments from the main Assassin’s Creed II game are included, along with six power-ups, online leaderboards, and a friends system for challenging other players. Players can also collect all 24 achievements and post them on Facebook.
In other App Store news, 99Games has published the iPhone/iPod touch version of Merscom’s time management game Mystic Emporium ($3.99), in which players guide a young witch named Lilly as she takes over a magic shop and tries to turn it into a thriving business. The game is also available for Mac and PC.
In Mystic Emporium, players brew potions for magical creatures that visit the shop and sell artifacts to seven types of customers, each with a different level of patience. As the game progresses, the number of customers increases and the frantic pace quickens, but players can upgrade the shop to make tasks easier. Twenty-four levels of gameplay are included, along with a match-three mini game that unlocks various kinds of charms.
