Wiley announced Friday that Mac OS X Snow Leopard for Dummies by our own Bob "Dr. Mac" LeVitus is shipping. Actually, that's not exactly true: Dr. Mac let us know, and indeed, while we were chatting with him on the phone, FedEx showed up on his doorstep with 10 copies of the book.
Part of the excellent and venerable For Dummies series, the newest title from Dr. Mac includes everything any Dummy needs to know about the new operating system, which also shipped today. Those things include:
- Learn when to shut down your Mac and when not to, how to secure it, and how to back it up with Time Machine
- Organize your life with iCal and your stuff with files and folders, and be able to find what you’re looking for
- Set up your Internet connection and e-mail, manage spam, surf with Safari, and start iChatting
- Download and organize songs, podcasts, and movies with iTunes and plan a playlist with Genius
- Create documents with TextEdit, print them, fax then, and make PDFs
- Set up a network and share files, printers, and Internet connections
- Find out about operating system updates, firewalls, troubleshooting, and other ways to keep your Mac safe, healthy, and happy
Mac OS X for Dummies lists or $24.99, or you can order it from Amazon for $16.49. Both Wiley and Amazon have the book in stock.
In addition, Dr. Mac will be giving away one of those ten copies he just received - autographed - on the next episode of our Apple Context Machine podcast, which will be recorded on Monday, August 31st. Mr. LeVitus will be on to talk about his top rants and raves for Snow Leopard.
