Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has revealed new details about a radical addition to the iPhone lineup: the iPhone 17 Slim. This phone will have a sleek design over functionality, with a super thin profile but with some key compromises.
The most notable difference is the single rear camera on the iPhone Slim, compared to the dual-camera expected on the standard iPhone 17 and the triple-camera system on the Pro models. While details about this single camera are short, it appears the Slim will lack the versatility offered by its multi-camera siblings.
But this isn’t even the main point of conversation; it’s how Apple is ready to bet on this slim device. According to the sources, the iPhone Slim will be the most expensive variant available, even more expensive than the Pro Max models, despite having weaker specs, a worse processor, and a smaller screen.
Despite its slim profile, Apple does not skimp entirely on premium materials. iPhone Slim will reportedly be constructed with titanium, though it will have a lower titanium content than the Pro models. Other expected specs include:
- A large 6.6-inch display.
- Apple’s A19 chip (compared to A19 Pro in Pro and Pro Max models).
- The Dynamic Island notch.
Notably, the iPhone Slim will ditch Qualcomm’s 5G chip in favor of Apple’s in-house design.
Overall, this indicates Apple is targeting a niche market that prioritizes a super thin phone over a feature-packed camera system. What’s your take on it?
