Amazon Intros Kindle Lending Library

The Amazon website stated, “Kindle owners can now choose from thousands of books to borrow for free, including over 100 current and former New York Times Bestsellers — as frequently as a book a month, with no due dates.”

Along with the one book a month limitation, Amazon is also limiting its library service to actual Kindle owners. People that read Kindle books just on an iOS device or computer can’t take advantage of the service.

Amazon Prime is the online retailer’s US$79 year service that includes discounted overnight shipping and free two-day shipping, along with TV show and movie streaming.

Some of the titles that are currently available for lending include Anthony Bourdain’s Kitchen Confidential, The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins, and Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game, The Big Short and Liars’ Poker by Michael Lewis.

Amazon’s new Kindle Lending Library could give the retailer an even bigger lead over the iBookstore since the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch-based ebook store since Apple doesn’t offer as many titles and can doesn’t include a lending service, either.

Kindle owners can check out the Lending Library at the Amazon website.
