It leaps tall buildings in a single bound! Oh wait, that’s Superman. But the Griffin Technology Stylus + Pen + Laser, in the right hands, may make the user feel like Superman. It clips to the pocket, functions as a refillable pen, includes a rubber-tipped stylus, and sports a laser pointer.
Griffin Technology Stylus + Pen + Laser
I’m not sure what to call it, how about the SPL for short. The SPL is five inches long and comes in black. The MSRP is US$49.99 and it is only available through the Griffin Web Site.
The laser pointer is built into the cap, which also contains the large pocket clip. The laser pointer battery is included. The ballpoint pen and the stylus are on each end of a switchable part of the SPL and easily switch back and forth. The stylus tip is composed of soft rubber and is custom designed to mimic a finger. It will not scratch or smudge a touchscreen and it works with any product that contains a touchscreen. The product is warrantied for one year.

Using the product
There are a lot of positives for the SPL. It’s attractive and professional looking, although I would have wished that the Griffin logo were not as large and prominent as it is. The ballpoint pen contains black ink and writes very smoothly. I particularly like the rubber stylus. It works well, moves smoothly over the surface of both my iPhone and my iPad and appears rugged enough to last a very long time.
I like the feel of this stylus better than some of the softer ones I have tried because it is easier to direct it. It is very quick and easy to switch from the pen to the stylus and vice versa. The button for the laser pointer is located next to the pocket clip and I found that the pocket clip served as a guide that allowed me to find the button without looking for it — a nice touch when making a presentation.
Do I recommend it?
I do. My brother, the CEO who just got his first iPad is getting one for Christmas. It is the perfect gift for him and others like him. It is well designed and well made. Some may feel the price is high, but I just say you get what you pay for, and this is a good solid product that does three tasks in one product.
