Western Digital Introduces My Passport Wireless

My Passport Wireless is a portable hard drive that uses 802.11n Wi-Fi technology to let you not only upload your media and free up space on your smart phone, tablet or other device, but also share your content with up to 8 other devices. An SD card slot will let you insert your camera’s memory card, helping free up space by moving content to the My Passport Wireless.

You can enable FTP server will allow some wireless cameras to upload to the device. It can also act as a DLNA/uPNP server to interact with systems that use these media sharing protocols. Rounding out the wireless functionality is the ability to let the device extend your wireless network and act as a hotspot.

The My Passport Wireless has a 3400 mAh battery, which, when combined with internal flash memory, allows up to 7 hours of streaming content. For times when you do have a cable, you can transfer information with the drive using the USB 3.0 port. Security features help protect both the wired and wireless connections so you only share with those you want.

The My PassPort Wireless is available now in 500GB, 1TB and 2TB sizes, with suggested retail prices of $129, $179 and $219.
