The iPad is Apple’s multimedia tablet device that runs iOS and sports a 9.7-inch multi-touch display. It supports most iPhone apps, includes built-in Wi-Fi wireless networking and Bluetooth support, and users will be able to upgrade to iSO 4.2 for free in November.
The iOS 4.2 update will add multi-tasking support to the iPad, along with app folders, unified Mail inbox support, Ping and Game Center support, wireless printing, and more.
China will also get its own iPad launch on Friday, although it will be limited to the Wi-Fi-only models. There’s no word yet on when the 3G-compatible iPad will be available in the country.
