It’s a safe bet we’ll see the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in September, but don’t get your hopes up for the iPhone 7 Pro. The rumored new addition to the iPhone family isn’t coming, nor is Apple planning to drop the “Plus” moniker in favor of “Pro.”
Word that the earlier reports are wrong comes courtesy of Macotakara (english translation), citing what it called a reliable source. Macotakara has good track record with its Apple product predictions, and since adding a second 5.5-inch iPhone model with different features would make for a confusing product line, it’s a safe bet we won’t see the Pro tag this year.
Macotakara is also on board with the solid state capacitive touch Home button and no 3.5mm headphone jack rumors.
Apple is expected to unveil new iPhone models in early September and start delivery a week or so later. The 7 series will most likely sport Apple’s A10 processor, a dual rear-facing camera system for the Plus model, repositioned antenna lines, and 32GB RAM minimum instead of 16GB.
The launch will also likely coincide with the release of iOS 10, which is currently available as a public beta. The updated operating system includes a long list of new features such as a redesigned Notifications view, Siri support for third-party apps, an overhauled Messages app, improved Maps, a HomeKit management app, a new Apple Music interface, stickers for messages, and more.
Apple hasn’t announced an iPhone launch media event yet, and isn’t confirming which features we’ll see on the new models. The company will likely hold its event on September 7, so we’re still a week or so out from seeing media invitations arrive.
I would have preferred iPhone Large, iPhone Medium, and iPhone Caucasian!!
A tribute to “Good Morning, Vietnam!!” movie.
I was in favor of iPhone SE, iPhone, and iPhone Pro.
