watchOS 4 can track your heart rate and alert you if it jumps too high when you aren’t working out. That’ll let you monitor your heart rate if that’s your thing, and it’s easy to set up. Read on to learn how.
To enable Elevated Heart Rate alerts in watchOS 4 do this:
- Launch the Watch app on your iPhone
- Tap the My Watch tab
- Select Heart Rate
- Tap Elevated Heart Rate
- Choose the beats per minute you prefer for your alert threshold
Your Apple Watch will alert you when your heart rate jumps above the beats per minute threshold you set, but only if you haven’t been active or working out for at least ten minutes. And since this works on all Apple Watch models you don’t have to wait for Apple Watch Series 3 to get elevated heart rate alerts.
That’s what I did. I adjusted the notifications on my phone so that an alarm on my watch would go off once my heart rate exceeds 100 bpm, but the alarm would still not go off despite that. Any ideas why this might be happening?
I’m on WatchOS 4 GM, however, the new heart rate data like resting heart rate and walking do not have Apple Watch listed in the “data sources”. Any reason why? Or how I can add it?
Not in the My Watch section.
It is in Notifications.
Hmmm, maybe not all models, or maybe its something I haven’t configured something but Heart Rate doesn’t even appear in the list to configure in the Watch app on iPhone 6s (Watch Series 0 running watchOS 4GM, phone running iOS 11 GM.
