Apple released new OS X printer drivers for HP printers on Tuesday titled “HP Printer Drivers v5.0 for OS X.” The patch notes for the update are sparse even by Apple standards, saying simply, “This download includes the latest HP printing and scanning software for OS X.” It’s a safe assumption the update improves performance across the line.
Speaking of HP’s product line, Apple has a separate document listing every HP printer supported in OS X.
You can download the update through the Mac App Store if you have an HP printer on your network. You can also download a standalone installer from Apple. That version is a 574.4MB download.
Wow. Must be a really slow news day.
If only the new drivers could change the printers’ appearance from eyesore black.
