Apple is going to introduce new versions of its AirPods, including a mid-tier model that will feature Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) for the first time. The device will be unveiled on September 10 with the Apple Watch 10 and iPhone 16 lineup.
The upcoming AirPods lineup will include two new models. The first model, likely a successor to the AirPods 2, will be the entry-level option. It is expected to retain a design similar to its predecessor; remember the first-ever AirPods? Yes, that design. It will likely omit ANC to maintain a competitive price point.
The second model will compete in the mid-tier segment with the AirPods 3. This version will include ANC, a feature previously reserved for the higher-end AirPods Pro.
Both new AirPods models are expected to adopt the USB-C charging standard. While the official name for these new models has not been confirmed, speculation includes names like AirPods Air or AirPods 4.
Note: the AirPods Pro will not receive an update this year. Apple plans to refresh the Pro lineup in 2025 with new designs, chips, and maybe even health-focused features.
