Official Napster Client For Mac OS, OS X
by , 7:00 AM EDT, October 25th, 2000
After using a number of third party Napster-compatible clients for months, Mac users finally have an "official" version of the Napster client. Formerly Macster, Napster 1.0b1 was created in conjunction with Black Hole Media, and comes carbonized for native support under OS X Beta. According to Napster:
For months Mac users have been on the sidelines of this digital music revolution. No more! Napster for the Mac is here. Search, download, share and chat, all in a Mac interface. And, you can keep your existing Macster user name and password.
This is a note to all users of MacOS X Public Beta. Napster for the Mac does run under MacOS X, though at this time, is unsupported. You will be running Napster under OS X at your own risk.
Support is planned for OS X, once we have development tools. We hope this is resolved quickly, and look forward to taking advantage of this outstanding OS.
Napster is available for free. You can find more information at the Napster web site.
