Prestissimo 1.5.1 (Freeware) Over the years, many features have been added to the Mac OS to make navigating among your windows and applications easier than ever. You can utilize keyboard-based application switching, use the tear-off application menu, and modify your scroll bars. But did you know that there are additional "secret" options that are not available to the average user? You should check out Prestissimo. The first thing Prestissimo allows you to do is change the way you perform application switching. The Mac OS default is to hold down the Command key and then press Tab. Each time you press Tab, you'll switch to the next available open application, if there is one. Using Prestissimo, you can select nearly any combination of keys other than Command and Tab to perform the switching. The second feature of Prestissimo will modify the behavior of the tear-off application menu. Yes, you can go to the upper right hand corner of your screen and get a tear-off menu of all your running applications. Combined with application switching, you can go through your applications to select the one you want. But Prestissimo allows you to do neat things like change the orientation of the palette (vertical or horizontal) the size of the icons (small or large) and the position of the palette. The Application Palette, Before and After The last feature will help improve your scrolling. Normally, you get up scroll arrow on the top of a window, and the down scroll arrow on the bottom. With the Appearance Manager, you can have both the up and down arrows on the bottom of a window. One wonders why Apple didn't take this to its natural conclusion of having both up and down scroll arrows on the top and bottom of a window. Prestissimo allows you to do this, as well as select a fixed or proportional scroll bar. Get Up and Down Scroll Bars on Top and Bottom of a Window! So, while the default enhancements to Mac OS navigation are pretty useful, Prestissimo lets you customize the behavior of these enhancements with values Apple never intended you to use.
