Apple Could Bring iCloud Syncing to Snow Leopard

There are two key pieces of information there. The first is that Snow Leopard 10.6.9 is in the works—the current version of Snow Leopard is 10.6.8.

The second piece of information is the reality that .Mac subscribing Snow Leopard users will be able to maintain their Contacts, Calendars, and Bookmark syncing that they enjoy today.

When Apple announced iCloud, the company said that it would require Lion and that .Mac would be going away late in 2012. If this preference pane is actually a an indication of what Apple will be implementing, Snow Leopard users will not be left out in the cold when it comes to syncing this information between their Macs and iOS devices.

Please note that this is NOT to say that all of iCloud will be brought to Snow Leopard. Some of iCloud’s major syncing features like Versions require fundamental changes in Mac OS X that are found only in Lion. The syncing referred to in this news is only the basic data syncing already available in MobileMe.
