While Apple has not yet released the latest batch of software updates, it’s said that the company has already begun working on their successors, expected to debut in the fall of 2025.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple has started working on iOS 19, macOS 16, watchOS 12, and visionOS 3. In his latest edition of the Power On newsletter, he mentioned that Apple has officially begun work on the 2025 software updates, codenamed “Luck” for iOS 19, “Cheer” for macOS 16, “Nepali” for watchOS 12, and “Discovery” for visionOS 3.

Apple kicking off work on the next batch of software updates for devices is on schedule as usual. It’s mainly because upcoming hardware needs software for testing, but it’s too early to know about the upcoming features. Apple will announce these during the next Worldwide Developer’s Conference if everything goes on schedule.

It will be interesting to see what Apple brings to the table, especially considering that iOS 18 is one of the biggest updates in history. Meanwhile, JPMorgan analysts have suggested that the iPhone 17 could offer a better upgrade compared to the iPhone 16.

Moreover, Apple plans to introduce Apple Intelligence, according to Gurman, to its Vision Pro, but not to the HomePod. Reportedly, the Vision Pro, equipped with ample memory, will support on-device Apple Intelligence functionalities such as notification summaries, writing tools, and an enhanced Siri experience.

Meanwhile, the HomePod and HomePod mini, which have limited memory will not receive the latest Apple Intelligence capabilities. Instead, Apple is now working on a new robot with a screen that uses Apple Intelligence.

That said, Apple’s next batch of software upgrades, iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS 15 Sequoia, watchOS 11, tvOS 18, and visionOS 2, are expected to debut to the public this fall, alongside the release of new iPhones and possibly the Apple Watch X or Apple Watch Series 10.
