Apple Rolls Out iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 Beta 3 to Developers: Here’s What’s New

X Things I Dislike About iOS 18 After Testing the Dev Beta

Apple has started rolling out third developer betas of upcoming iOS 18 and iPadOS 18. It comes two weeks after the release of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 developer beta 2.

As always, registered developers can install the iOS 18 developer beta 3 by heading to Settings > Software Update > Beta Updates option and selecting the available update. Regular users should avoid installing the developer previews, as these are mainly intended for developers and testers.

With iOS 18 developer beta 3, there are a bunch of new enhancements that give us a sneak of what to expect from the upcoming iOS 18 update, expected around the fall event.

iOS 18 Developer Beta 3: What’s New

Among many improvements, iOS 18 brings Dark Mode icons for several apps, including Facebook, Telegram, and more. It appears that Apple automatically updates these icons to fit Dark Mode.

The RCS in the Messages now features a dropdown menu, instead of a simple on/off switch. Furthermore, some iPhone users in Canada and elsewhere are starting to see the RCS option.

Apple has also included dynamic wallpaper that changes colors based on the time of day and has improved flashlight controls for adjusting brightness and spread. Moreover, the Control Center is now customizable allowing third-party devs to play around for their apps.

In the Photos app, a new Select button now appears throughout, killing the need to swipe down to access it. Additionally, emoji, Memoji, and stickers in Messages are now placed into a single interface, making it easier to use.
