The period from June, when iOS 18 is announced, to September, when it becomes available to the public, is considered the beta season. During these summer months, Apple releases multiple beta versions for both developers and users to test.
As noted by 9to5Mac, this year’s beta schedule follows the same pattern as previous years, with new beta releases every two weeks.
Since WWDC24, Apple has released the following iOS 18 betas:
- Developer beta 1: June 10
- Developer beta 2: June 24
- Developer beta 3: July 8
- Public beta 1: July 15
- Developer beta 4: July 23
Given this pattern, it’s fairly easy to predict when the upcoming iOS 18 betas will be released.
Here’s the list of iOS 18 betas on the way:
- Public beta 2: ~July 29
- Developer beta 5: ~August 6
- Public beta 3: ~August 7
- Dev beta 6 & public beta 4: ~August 13
- Dev beta 7 & public beta 5: ~August 20
- Dev beta 8 & public beta 6: ~August 27
- RC candidate: September post-iPhone event
As is typically the case with early betas, the first releases are often plagued by bugs. While they introduce new features, it’s generally not recommended to install them on main devices. That’s set to change with the upcoming betas, as each new release is expected to be more stable than the previous one.
