Users may be able to drag content between apps in split screen view, according to 9to5 Mac's unnamed sources, although developers will need to update their apps to take advantage of the new split screen features. If so, third party developers may finally be able to design their apps to share data with other apps, which is a feature that's been long hoped for.

Split screen view is designed for the 9.7-inch iPad screen, and there isn't any word on whether or not it will also work on the iPad mini's 7.9-inch display.

Apple hasn't announced any iOS 8 features yet, but the company is expected to do that during its annual Worldwide Developer Conference at the beginning of June. Those announcements won't, however, likely include an immediate release. Apple has historically showed off several features, given developers early access to beta versions, and then released the update to users in the fall.
