Reports indicate that Apple is planning to manufacture the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models in India for the very first time. The news comes from Money Control, which says the devices will be made in India “to make sure the India-assembled iPhone 16 Pro models are available in the country after the launch.”
The report suggests Foxconn’s facility in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, will soon start the NPI process for the Pro models, with mass production beginning after Apple releases the new models.
“Every year, Apple seeks to deepen its manufacturing capabilities with partners in India. Production of Pro models is something that has been under consideration for the last couple of years,” a source familiar with the matter told Money Control. “This year, Apple will manufacture the Pro and Pro Max models in India to make sure the India-assembled iPhone 16 Pro models are available in the country after the launch.”
According to the report, the iPhone 16 Pro models will be imported in the “initial phase of iPhone 16 series availability.” However, India-made versions of the devices will be available “within this fiscal year,” the report says, “similar to what it did with Apple 15 Plus.”
It’s anticipated that the iPhone 16 will be announced in September, with the devices going on sale shortly thereafter.
