[Review] Leather Folio Case Wallet for iPhone 16 by Geometric Goods

  • The good: fantastic build quality, great color and design options.
  • The bad: Leather may smell at first, users may want more card pockets.
  • The leather: Geometric Goods offers sustainable options that provide style and function.

Today, I’m taking a look at the iPhone 16 Series Leather Folio Case Wallet with MagSafe from Geometric Goods. While some folks may argue that an iPhone case isn’t necessary for protection these days, many still may find it necessary to safeguard their purchase or make a fashion statement. Fortunately, this case provides a sustainable style and protection that will look bold at your next meeting or luncheon. Let’s take a look.

Looking at Geometric Goods

If you’re not familiar with Geometric Goods, then you should be. With a focus on minimalism and geometry, the company prides itself on crafting products from Italian vegetable-tanned leather. Being more environmentally stable than your typical chrome-tanned leather, their products avoid nasty chemicals and metals, ensuring you receive a more robust product. Geometric Goods relies on old-world techniques and processes to bring you an iPhone case with a modern feel.

Geometric Leather: Looking at the Positives

If you know me, then you know I’m not the biggest fan of carrying my ID and credit cards in my cellphone case. Personally, I really like keeping these items separate, mostly because I’m constantly using my cell phone. However, as Apple continues to expand the capabilities of Apple Wallet, the need for a bulky physical wallet is slowly fading. While adding your driver’s license to Apple Wallet may not fully work as it should just yet, it shows the company is working hard to ensure that a physical wallet is a thing of the past.

With this in mind, a professional-grade Folio Wallet seems perfect, and Geometric Goods has crafted an excellent-looking set of cases for the iPhone 16 series. One thing I really like about my Classic 4.0 Leather Folio Wallet Case is the build quality and design. Holding the vegetable-tanned leather in my hands, I can feel the difference in quality over other leather cases I’ve reviewed. I’m really excited to see how this case ages, as no doubt this type of leather is the type that will only become more refined the more you use it.

Style and Substance: Design Choices and Variety for All Needs

I’m also a fan of the minimalist design the company implements. As it seems more and more likely that I’ll eventually have to carry fewer items in my wallet, Geometric Goods’ Leather Folio Case Wallet ensures I’m only carrying what I need. While some folks may want space, I think the amount given works well. I’m able to hold my essential items without my case becoming too bulky for my hand. Even if I do find the leather portion to be too much, the MagSafe compatibility ensures I can take my iPhone out whenever I want to use it without the leather case.

Another cool thing I like is the color and texture options. When it comes to leather, many companies will typically stop at two choices: brown or black leather. While leather can look great in any color, variety is the spice of life, as they say. What’s really cool about Geometric Goods is that they offer a lot of options.

Take their Classic 4.0 Folio Case Wallet as an example. Colors include Forest Green, Mahogany, Tan, Black, Brown, Camel, and Grey. They also have Black Snake Print and Black Vectors, which add a premium to the price but feature great designs and textures.

While my case was for the iPhone 16 Pro, the company crafts a variety of gear for Apple products: cases for every iPhone model going back to the iPhone 12, accessories for AirPods Max and MacBooks and even items for your AirTags.

What Could Use Work

While I would certainly say there are more positives than negatives, that doesn’t mean my experience was without flaws. However, I would say these flaws are somewhat minimal. For starters, I thought there was a peculiar smell when I opened the package. Maybe this one is just me, but when I first opened it, everything inside had a peculiar smell. Perhaps this is just because it’s fresh vegetable-tanned leather, but it was off-putting. I’m not sure this one is worthy of losing interest in this product, but it’s worth noting in my book.

Second, while I do enjoy using the case, I’m still not entirely convinced that I’m the right target audience for this product. Geometric Goods’ leather is for those who love everything professional. When you use this case, you’re making a statement that screams business class.

I emphasize that these cases are for a particular type of person, which brings me to my last point: the price. When you expect quality, you pay for quality, and these cases can certainly appear higher-end in price. Considering most of the collection is well over $80, it’s something to keep in mind when making a purchase.

However, I will say that for the price you’re paying, you are receiving a quality product. Another little bonus is that Geometric Goods offers personalization, including an option to add your engraving to a custom place. While this alone doesn’t justify the price tag, it’s a nice extra that I think people will love.

The Final Word: Are These Cases Worth Your Money?

At the end of the day, I would say Geometric Goods‘ lineup of cases is worth your money. While the price tag is a little higher than I would personally like, you are getting a product that reflects the cost. Fortunately, as long as the case isn’t customized, the company does offer a thirty-day return policy. While I doubt you’ll be returning your case, it’s worth noting should something occur.

If you’re looking to make a statement with your iPhone case, I think you need to look no further. Geometric Goods provides you with a variety of options, including those outside of the iPhone world, that feature a style that’s sure to set the tone whenever you show off your iPhone.
