Step by Step Guide on How To Renew AppleCare+ for All Devices

Products covered by AppleCare+

Apple devices are expensive, and you likely want to protect your investment. But did you know that you can renew your AppleCare+ plan after it expires? The service is available in select countries and regions. Here’s what to know.

Which Devices Are Covered by AppleCare+?

All electronics made by Apple are covered by AppleCare+. That includes Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV, HomePods, AirPods, Beats products, and the Vision Pro. For AirPods and Beats products, you can find the full list of supported devices on the AppleCare+ website.

The first time you sign up for AppleCare+ must be within 60 days of purchasing or activating your product. After that, your device will only be able to receive the regular warranty coverage.

Is My Device Eligible for AppleCare+ Renewal?

Any iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, or Mac supported by AppleCare+ is eligible for renewal after the coverage expires. However, you must purchase the renewal within 30 days of the expiring date.

You must also have paid for your original AppleCare+ plan upfront. Lastly, you need to live in a country where extended AppleCare+ coverage is available. The complete list can be found in this Apple Support article.

Renewing AppleCare+ on iPhone/iPad

To renew your AppleCare+ plan on an iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > General > About and select your AppleCare+ plan. From there, an option to renew the subscription should be available.

If you’re trying to renew your Apple Watch’s AppleCare+ plan, the equivalent option will be available on the Watch app. Go to General > About and check the AppleCare+ section.

In case this option doesn’t appear, open Apple’s support page on Safari and follow the instructions. You’ll be able to purchase an AppleCare+ subscription that automatically renews monthly or annually.

To renew your Mac’s AppleCare+ coverage, open the System Settings app and go to General > About. The AppleCare+ menu should offer the renewal option.

If it’s not available there, open Safari, go to Apple’s support page, and follow the on-screen instructions. AppleCare+ renewal for Macs is only available in annual plans.

AppleCare+ Gives You Peace of Mind

At first, paying an additional price for AppleCare+ may seem superfluous. That’s until your phone lands flat on concrete a week after the warranty has expired, or something like that.

Being able to simply take your device to an Apple Store or service center and have it fixed is comforting. It’s always better to have the coverage but not need it than to not have it, and then need it.
