Called Third Man 45 iPhone 4S Case, the cases consist of a frame and a backing plate, which is the part made from the record. That makes them interchangeable, and three packs of backs are available. In the promo video below, Laura Matula, Office Manager for Third Man Records, said that if one could devise a way to play these cases with a record needle, they would play.

Griffin is selling the cases as follows. For US$29.99, you can get a white, yellow, or black frame that comes with a black record back. For $19.99, the company is offering the three pack of backs that comes with:

  • 1 white vinyl record back, cut from The White Stripes’ “Candy Cane Children” single.
  • 1 black vinyl record back, cut from The Raconteurs’ “Steady, As She Goes” single, from their first album, Broken Boy Soldiers. These Raconteurs inserts represent the first pressing of this single, soon to be available as a reissue from Third Man.
  • 1 yellow vinyl record back, cut from The Dead Weather single “Treat Me Like Your Mother,” from their first album, Horehound.

They are available now.
