Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is finally launching on iPhones, iPads, and Macs. It comes as Capcom’s third Resident Evil game on Apple devices, after Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil 4 Remake, which are also free.
Of course, you can try the new Resident Evil 7: Biohazard for free on select iPhones, iPads, and Macs. However, to unlock the full game, you’ll need to pay $19.99, and if you want all the extras, like DLCs, it’s an additional $19.99.
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is only compatible with iPhone 15 Pro series or newer, iPads with an M1 chip or newer, and Macs with an M1 chip or newer. As usual, it won’t support older hardware devices.
Regarding what the latest AAA game offers, it seems more on the “going back to its roots” side. It’s set in the swamps of Louisiana, where you play as Ethan Winters searching for his lost wife. Caught by the bizarre, mutated Baker family, Ethan must fight to stay alive while exploring their eerie estate to uncover the truth about his wife’s disappearance and the real cause of the horror.
It’s quite exciting to see that several AAA releases have queued up and are finally working on Apple devices. However, only time will tell how these stand up next to their mainline counterparts. The timing seems perfect, as Apple recently announced during WWDC that it will ship Game Mode with the upcoming iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 versions. We’ll have to wait to see how it helps AAA titles.
That said, you can now go and download the game and start playing. A gentle piece of advice would be to ensure that your device is connected to Wi-Fi, as the download will exceed 10GB or so. You can watch the launch trailer in the meantime.
