Microsoft isn’t the only one working closely with the U.S. spying machine. Google has been doing it for years. The company’s roots are tied to the CIA, and it has worked with the NSA as well.
Here’s a sign of how vital Google has become to the US government: in 2010, following a disastrous intrusion into its system by what the company believes was a group of Chinese government hackers, Google entered into a secretive agreement with the NSA…
This mixing of military, police, government, public education, business and consumer-facing systems – all funnelled through Google – continues to raise alarms.
Is it just me, or is it unnerving that companies are allying themselves closer with the military?

Might be if this behavior was new and its consequences unexpected but given the behavior’s history without any significant disruption, my thought is to pay attention to other issues.
Let’s just say the author fails to impress the reader, again.
Really? You don’t think that companies are not working for the federal government in more places than you think? Are you really paying attention?
For many years, when AT&T was Ma Bell, they used to have special access portals for the government to use with an without warrants. This dates back to the 1920s and only came to light in the 1980s during divestiture.
A few years ago it was disclosed that Microsoft was working with NSA to create specialized hacks for Windows-based system. This was disclosed when the NSA systems were hacked and the list of hacks was publically released.
Apple has admitted to working with law enforcement and has not required a search warrant.
As someone who used to work in that arena, you should be more worried about what you do not know about than this disclosure by Google. Let’s just say that nobody is innocent. Nearly every tech company is working with the clandestine-related services in the federal government.
Just because you have not heard about it doesn’t mean it does not happen!
I am aware that Google isn’t the only one doing this, and I used this linked teaser as a good opportunity to link to those articles on Medium about Google’s relationship with the CIA and NSA. I said it was unnerving, not surprising.
