Cult of Mac writes about the experience Backblaze has had with its many thousands of hard drives. “Statistics on hard drive reliability just released by data-storage company Backblaze would seem to indicate it’s not a good idea to buy a Seagate hard drive. Of the 104,954 drives it uses, Seagate’s are the least reliable by a wide margin.” But there was one brand that was much more reliable.

Pretty obvious Backfaze or whatever are full of crap with some axe to grind. I’ve been using Seagate drives since way before these idiots have and NOT ONCE since the 80’s has a drive failed. Not once. Now, if these idiots are doing things with arrays that .00006 % of the public do in terms of read/write abuse – then this is just ridiculous moot baloney on them.
Sometimes one still just needs massive storage. I could never do that with SSD because it is cost prohibitive.
I have 36 TB of data on drives backed up to even more HD’s.
Cost for SSD is still too prohibitive unfortunately, Otherwise, Macsee is spot on.
Would be nice to show that the despite the terrible initial statement by Backblaze for some Seagate drives, perhaps the best Magnetic spinning HD is actually a Seagate.

But in the end…. the best HD statistically is actually……..

Once you try SSD, you do not want mechanical rotational disks, even for free!
