Copyrights, Free Speech, & More On Tonight’s Your Mac Life

It’s Wednesday, and that means it’s time for another edition of Your Mac Life. Your Mac Life is a weekly QuickTime Streaming broadcast about the Mac industry in the style of a traditional radio talk show. This week’s show features two different segments on copyrights and free speech issues, and Shawn King, the show’s host, talks about heading to Japan for MACWORLD Tokyo. From Your Mac Life:

Last week, Shawn announced he is going "On Tour"! Not only will Shawn be traveling to Mac User groups around the country (and you can check out www.mugcenter.com or tune in for more details) but he will also be heading East in a couple of weeks – the Far East!

That’s right…Your Mac Life heads to Tokyo, Japan for the Macworld Expo March 21st to the 23rd. If you have a mental picture of Shawn as the Canadian Bull in a Tokyo China Shop, you’re pretty much right. 🙂

On this week’s Your Mac Life sponsored by Griffin Technology and Marathon Computer, Shawn’s Featured Guest is Steven Levy, author of "Insanely Great: The Life and Times of Macintosh…" and Senior Editor at Newsweek. Stephen has written a very important article about Senator Fritz Hollings attempt to shove through legislation that the Electronic Frontier Foundation describes as "The far-reaching bill that [will…cripple] the American technology industry in response to hysterical entertainment execs, flushing away consumer rights and dumping innovation down the same drain."

Also appearing on Wednesday’s show will be Julio Ojeda-Zapata, reporter for the St Paul Pioneer Press talking about Apple in general and where he, as a platform-agnostic kind of guy, thinks Apple is doing well and where they aren’t.

Do you know what your rights are online? Do you run a Web site? Do you use copyrighted music in your iMovies? Has your Web site been sent a "Cease and Desist" order? Well, you should tune in to hear Wendy Seltzer of ChillingEffects.org, Chilling Effects is a joint project of the Electronic Frontier Foundation and Harvard, Stanford, Berkeley, and University of San Francisco law school clinics.

As always, Peter Cohen of MacCentral will have the latest in Mac Game news!

And there are prizes galore to be given away! Lots of products from Griffin Technology and T-shirts from CompanyStuff.com will all be awarded tonight!

You can tune in to the show by visiting Your Mac Life’s Web site at 8:00 PM CST (9:00 PM EST).
