Apple's Retina MacBook Pro gets a speed bump and more RAM
The 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro includes Intel's 2.6 GHz dual-core i5 processor with 8 GB RAM, up from 4 GB, and 128 GB SSD storage plus Intel Iris Graphics starting at US$1,299 or $1,499 with 256 GB storage. A 2.8 GHz model with 512 GB storage is available, too, for $1,799.
The 15-inch model ships with a 2.2 GHz Intel quad-core i7 processor, 16 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD storage, and Intel Iris Pro graphics for $1,999. The 2.5 GHz quad-core i7 model includes 16 GB RAM, 512 GB storage, Intel Iris Pro graphics as well as GeForce GT 750M graphics with 2 GB video RAM for $2,499.
Build-to-order options for the 15-inch model include a 2.8 GHz i7 processor and 1 TB SSD.
The 13-inch non-Retina MacBook Pro is still available and is the only Mac Apple sells with a built-in optical drive. The price has been reduced to $1,099, but the model still sports a 2.5 GHz dual-core i5 processor, 4 GB RAM, a 500 GB hard drive, and Intel HD Graphics 4000.
The new 13-inch and 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro models are shipping now.
