Apple has released the second beta of the upcoming macOS Sonoma 14.6 update to the registered developers. It comes two weeks after Apple began rolling out macOS Sonoma 14.6 developer beta 1. Alongside macOS Sonoma 14.6 beta 2, Apple has rolled out the second round of developer betas for iOS 17.6, iPadOS 17.6, tvOS 17.6, watchOS 10.6, macOS Sonoma 14.6, and visionOS 1.3.
If you’re a developer in Apple’s beta program, you can get the new updates either from the Apple Developer Center or directly on your Mac by going to Settings.
Public beta versions usually come out shortly after the developer ones, and anyone interested can join through the Apple Beta Software Program website. Regular users should avoid updating to the developer betas as these are intended for testing purposes.
At this stage of the product cycle, the betas don’t include major new features. Most of the changes will likely be saved for the next generation of betas instead, it seems. In related news, Apple has also announced and released the developer betas of the upcoming macOS 15 Sequoia, expected to debut to the public this fall alongside other software updates.
As usual, not all Macs will support macOS 15 Sequoia, therefore Apple will continue releasing macOS 14.x software updates for older devices.
