Microsoft Releases IntelliMouse Drivers For OS X

icrosoft has released its long-awaited input device driver for OS X, bringing the IntelliPoint software to version 2.1.0. The new release allows Mac OS X users to take advantage of all the buttons on Microsoftis popular mice. The driver supports:

  • IntelliMouse Explorer
  • IntelliMouse Optical
  • Wheel Mouse Optical
  • Wireless IntelliMouse Explorer
  • Optical Trackball
  • Trackball Explorer

It is a 2.2MB download available from Microsoftis Web site.


The package uses Appleis software installer and requires a restart of your machine. After that it resides in your System Preferences as the Microsoft Mouse Preference Pane, and its operation is practically identical to the OS 9 version. The Preference Pane itself launches a standalone application that actually controls the drivers.


The system requirements list Mac OS X 10.1.2 and 15MB of available disk space.
