Finding unknown files on your computer is never a good experience. If you didn’t put it there, someone must have done it, right? Recently, users have been finding a file called ExitUpsellKeyValueStore in their Documents folders, but there isn’t much online about it.

Some people thought it could be a virus or other malware of some sort. However, in many cases, the file appears a day or two after purchasing the Mac. Also, affected users said they didn’t install suspicious apps or open unsafe links. What could it be, then?

What Is ExitUpsellKeyValueStore?

Simply put, ExitUpsellKeyValueStore is a file created by the Apple TV+ app. It appears when you watch one of the free episodes the service offers for non-subscribers.

If you open the file using TextEdit, you’ll be able to find some lines with an identifier code. If you open Apple TV+ on Safari and play the episode you watched, you’ll see that identifier on its URL.

Is ExitUpsellKeyValueStore Safe?

It surely is. Being created by an Apple service, there’s nothing to worry about the ExitUpsellKeyValueStore file. It poses no threat to your Mac.

Can I Delete ExitUpsellKeyValueStore?

Many users have deleted the ExitUpsellKeyValueStore from their Mac, with no reported side effects so far. As it seems, there’s no problem in deleting the file.
