Amazon Prime Video is the most downloaded Apple TV app ever, and it took only seven days to take that top spot. Considering how many people were clamoring for the app, that’s not too surprising.
Amazon shared the news with BESTAppleTV.com saying, “Prime Video has been a hit with Apple TV customers around the world—it had the most first-week downloads of any app in the history of tvOS.”
Apple confirmed Amazon’s claim, so this isn’t just bragging without anything bagging it up.
Amazon Prime Video for Apple TV brings the online retailer’s subscription streaming video service to Apple’s set top entertainment box. The service includes the company’s original content such as Man in the High Castle, Transparent, and Mozart in the Jungle.
Apple announced at its Worldwide Developer Conference in June that the Amazon Prime Video app was coming to Apple TV. Amazon finally followed through on that promise on December 6th.
Amazon Prime Video is a free download for fourth and fifth generation Apple TV models, and an automatic install for the third generation model.
