Apple CEO Tim Cook Joins Twitter, Gets 187,000 Followers with One Tweet

Apple CEO Tim Cook joined Twitter and sent out his first tweet on Friday, September 20th. That was enough to start the Twitter ball rolling, and he already has more than 187,000 followers.

That tweet

His Twitter profile says, “CEO Apple, Fan of Auburn football and Duke basketball.” It's a succinct summary considering Mr. Cook heads the world's most valuable corporations, but his Following list offers another look at what makes Mr. Cook tick:

Mr. Cook follows all of 20 people, including The Daily Show, former President Bill Clinton, Apple SVPs Phil Schiller and Eddy Cue, Pope Francis, Laurene Jobs (Steve Jobs's widow), CNN anchor Anderson Cooper, Kennedy scion Kerry Kennedy, New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman, Jimmy Fallon, and The Kings of Leon.

We should mention that Ms. Kennedy is also the head of The RFK Center for Justice & Human Rights, a charity set up under the name of the Robert F. Kennedy—Mr. Cook also follows the RFK Center's Twitter account

You might remember that the RFK Center was the recipient of a coffee date charity auction by Mr. Cook that went on to raise US$610,000.
