Apple has reportedly held discussions about buying independent podcast-maker Wondery. It is understood to be one of at least four firms interested in doing a deal, with another being Sony. However, Spotify, which has previously bought The Ringer and Gimlet, is understood not to have been involved in any negotiations.
Apple Could Purchase Wondery And It’s Original Podcasts
Wondery is said to be asking for $300-400m for the sale. As Bloomberg News noted, if purchased by Apple, it would be the company’s biggest investment in podcasting for a number of years and bring with it a library of original content. It also comes as the company is starting to create podcasts that run alongside TV+ content.
