Apple Computer and its iTunes Music Store (iTMS) has sold more than 250 million songs since first going online in April 2003, the company announced Monday.
Apple said it is selling more than 1.25 million songs per day, or an annual run rate of about 500 million songs per year. At its current selling rate, iTMS sales will hit one billion around the start of 2006.
The iTMS is now available in fifteen countries, which together represent more than 70% of the global music market, the company said. Apple’s US iTMS claims to offer over one million songs.
