Aerial Video Shows Apple's Massive North Carolina Data Center

Apple has so far been mum on what it intends to do with the facility, which first came to light in 2009, and was officially confirmed by local North Carolina sources in July of 2009. It is largely assumed that the company will begin expanding its cloud computing services, and that the facility will be used to better manage the flow of data related to the iPhone’s and iPad’s mobile application businesses.

Apple’s purchase of Lala late in 2009 sparked speculation the facility would be used for Apple’s unannounced plans for a clound-centric shift in iTunes storage, even though the company entered negotiations with Lala a year or more after it began its plans for the new data center.

Whatever its purposed, the facility is large, as you can see in the video posted to YouTube by Mr. Wagenseller.
