Apple is bringing new video conferencing backgrounds in the upcoming macOS Sequoia or macOS 15, which is set for release this fall. The latest beta versions include nine built-in backgrounds from the various parts of Apple HQ Apple Park, the company’s headquarters.
These virtual backgrounds feature locations such as Apple Park’s exterior, fitness studio, and pond. They are compatible with FaceTime and other video conferencing applications, including Zoom, WebEx, and Microsoft Teams.
Users can access these backgrounds and other video effects by clicking the green camera icon in the Mac’s menu bar. This menu also has options for portrait mode, lighting adjustments, and reactions. Apple states that the backgrounds use “industry-leading segmentation technology” to enhance user appearance.
These features are currently being tested in beta form for macOS Sequoia versions 15.0 and 15.1. The beta versions also implement initial Apple Intelligence features. You can read more about macOS Sequoia or macOS 15 here.
While the exact release date has not been specified, Apple has confirmed that macOS Sequoia will be available to the public in the fall.
