Cheaper Apple Vision Pro On Track for “Early Next Year”

Apple is reportedly planning to release a more affordable version of the Apple Vision Pro, according to industry insider Mark Gurman. The tech giant is exploring options to cut costs without ruining much of the core experience, with a probable launch as early as next year.

The original Vision Pro, unveiled at WWDC 2023 and released earlier this year, has been praised for its impressive technology but has faced criticism for its high price point of $3,499. While Apple has seen strong initial demand, the premium price tag has limited its appeal to a wider audience, given that Apple took ages to release it worldwide and declined the interest of potential customers.

To address the cost issue, Apple is now developing a more budget-friendly alternative, which we earlier called – Apple Vision Lite. Gurman also suggests that the company is continuing work on a second-generation Vision Pro model, but there are not many details as of now.

One of the main reasons it could be a sub-$1500 product is that, unlike Apple Vision Pro, Apple Vision Lite will reportedly use your iPhone’s computational powers.

Apple is also looking into smart glasses without displays, similar to Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses. However, the company has reportedly encountered technical challenges in developing true augmented reality glasses.
