Apple Looking to Hire iPhone Game Developer

“The interactive media group is looking for a skilled software engineer who wants to work as part of a small highly motivated team to work on interactive multimedia experiences on the iPhone and iPod Touch,” the company said in its job posting. “The position on the team is to help design and implement interactive multimedia experiences on the iPhone and iPod Touch.”

The ad continued, “The position also requires a creative thinker who can contribute and comment on the design process as well as being flexible enough to aid in all aspects of production such as asset management and able to work to a deadline.”

The company, which is not known for its affinity for gaming, also said it was looking for a “passionate gamer.” While Apple has recently been touting the iPhone and iPod touch as a premium gaming platform, the company has a hit and (mostly) miss track record of supporting games on the Mac.

Today’s job posting could represent at least a subtle shift somewhere within the company for accepting the importance of gaming to any computing platform, especially for handheld devices.

The position is being offered in Cupertino, CA, where Apple is headquartered. The job’s title is Game/Media Software Engineer.
