Apple’s upcoming macOS Sequoia, aka macOS 15, is expected this fall and will bring new features, but some won’t be available on Intel-based Macs.
- The biggest exclusion is Apple Intelligence, a suite of AI features that require Apple’s M1 chip or later. This means Intel Macs released before November 2020 won’t have access to these personalized AI enhancements.
- Another missing feature for Intel users is Live Audio Transcription in Notes. This tool lets you record audio and get live transcripts within your notes. Here’s how to do it.
However, there’s good news for Intel Mac owners too. macOS Sequoia will have several features that are compatible with supported Intel machines. These include:
- Scheduling messages
- Improved Reminders integrated with Calendars
- A dedicated Passwords app
- Window tiling for better multitasking
Even the latest continuity feature, iPhone Mirroring, which won’t be coming to the EU this year, will work on Intel Macs with a T2 Security Chip.
For the full list of compatible Macs, as per Mac Rumors, which includes
- MacBook Air (2020 and later)
- MacBook Pro (2018 and later)
- iMac (2019 and later)
- Mac Mini (2018 and later)
- iMac Pro (2017 and later)
- Mac Pro (2019 and later)
- Mac Studio (2022 and later)
Currently, in developer beta, macOS Sequoia is expected to see a public beta this month before its fall release.
Remarkable: either Intel inside or artificial intelligence.
